Family for Holidays

As I said before, my humans and myself traveled a long way to visit family for the holidays. There are some four-legged family members too. There is a cat, named Kitty, and a dog named Molly.

Molly in front of all the presents.
Molly does not like to play with me very much. She prefers ropes to fuzzy toys. We both run around the house together, just not playing tug together or anything like that. This is a pretty great house. There is carpet so it is easy to run, and it is bigger than my normal house.

Kitty is sticking her tongue out.
Kitty is a very cranky cat. She won't play either. I run up to her and she doesn't run away, just sits there not moving. Sometimes she sticks her tongue out like in the picture above, but I am not sure you can see it.

It is fun to be here with family. Everybody pets me. (There are 4 extra humans.) Even if Molly and Kitty just play near me instead of with me, it is fun to have company. I think this was worth the drive.

Traveling

Normally, my preference is to move about on my own four legs. I am quite speedy that way and I have full control. Occasionally there are reasons to travel in different methods.

Hello there. I am going backwards.

For example, there is the occasion of my humans being silly and treating me like I am a baby human. I am not  a human, I am a dog, and not even a baby dog. I am a grown up bitch. Although I can't have babies because I had an operation. I am ok with that. I will never be tied down by puppies.

The other occasion when I need to use non-paw forms of transportation is when I have to go a very long way. We went a very long way recently to spend holidays with family. So we used the car.

I like my humans, but I want to get out!

Usually in the car I go to work. That takes about 15 minutes. This time though, it took hours and hours and hours. It was very boring. I got a bone filled with tasty goo, but  I got as much goo out as I could in 30 minutes. The rest of the trip I tried to sit in my human's lap.

At least it is warm here in the sun.

As you  can see, not so much fun. Also, the lap isn't stable, and sometimes I fall off front or back or to the side. But we eventually got to where we were going, and it is pretty fun here. I'll tell you about it soon!

Silly hats

My humans are silly. You might remember that I was wearing hats a while ago.

Well, here's another one.

I'm a what?
The humans seem very excited about this hat. They had to cut a hole in the side for my face because the hat was too big and fell down around my neck and I couldn't see. I wonder what's so great about this hat.

It makes noise too!

Grooming

I have heard that it is important to always make a good first impression. Good grooming is an important part of that. Grooming is necessary, even if not always pleasant.

Part of my grooming routine is showers. I have to have a shower about once a month. I hate showers. Way too much water. Water is for drinking. My human rubs stuff on me that makes bubbles. Then she puts water all over me again. But then comes a part I like. Towel time! I just think all the cleaning should happen during towel time, and skip the shower.

Another part of grooming is getting brushed. That is better than showering. First I have to have my collars taken off.

I feel so naked!

Then I get brushed with that little black and blue brush. It takes a long time and afterward there's a pile of fur. I have to work extra hard to make it grow back!

Even though I like the attention while being brushed, it is tedious, and by the time it's done I'm always happy to get dressed again.

I hope everyone out there is well groomed!

Naps

Today, we are going to talk about naps. Naps are an extremely important part of the day. They let you pass the time while your humans are not paying attention to you. It's an excellent way to pass time, because napping never gets you in trouble!

When napping, it is important to have a comfortable spot. At my human #1's work, I have a little bed under her desk. It lets me be close to her, and its soft, and not too big so I can curl up in it. At home, I like the couch. There are usually soft blankets and pillows on the couch, to augment the cushions.

Comfortable AND fashionable.

Actually, I like sleeping on the bed the most, but I'm not allowed anymore. My humans found little warm hollows in the blankets, and sometimes wet spots where I was licking my paw. Now they keep the door closed all the time.

I have a friend who likes to sleep on hard floors. She says it's the only place that's cool enough to get a good rest. While she is entitled to her opinions, I prefer soft, warm things.

Happy napping!

Look at Me!

Sometimes my humans like to sit on the couch. They make there be noises and flashy lights. I don't understand what's going on. They just sit there. They're not asleep. Just sitting.

So sometimes I have to let them know that they have to pay attention to me.

A most excellent nose.

It's difficult to get between the humans and the flashy lights. But getting petted is very important. Also licking peoples faces. My humans aren't a big fan of that, but I do it anyway because I love them!

More fun at Aunt E's house

As you know, I spent some time at Aunt E's house recently, and she has two cats. This is one of the cats, Samira.

Evil. But snuggly evil.
Samira is sitting on the bed, all snuggled up in blankets. I like to snuggle up  in blankets too. But Aunt E doesn't let me on the bed.

Making do.

(My regular humans don't let me on the bed either.)

This unfairness must be stopped! I will get rid of that cat! I have tricked her into a box, so I can mail her far far away.

How much does it cost to ship a cat to Abu Dhabi?
Rats! I got caught. Apparently I'm not allowed to mail cats either. No beds, no mailing cats. What is this world coming to?

Oh. Samira just came over and told me something. She says that although she's allowed on the bed, she doesn't get to go outside, except a few times. And when she goes in the car she has to be in a bag. Life is terribly unfair for all of us 4-legged peoples. At least Samira is nice and snuggly on the couch too.

Friends. For now.
I guess Samira isn't terribly evil after all. She sleeps with me. Not like her sister, who punches me in the face. Now that's an evil cat!

Chocolate

This happened a little while ago, but it is important to get the message out.

Chocolate is bad for you! Don't eat it!

If your humans find out you ate a whole bunch of chocolate, they will make you drink weird stuff that's bubbly and makes you throw up. A lot. That wasn't much fun.

My humans explained that I would be much much sicker if they hadn't made me drink that stuff. So I forgave them, and I'm letting you know.

The question I have is: If chocolate is so bad for you, why can you find great big chunks of it lying around?
And why does it smell so good?

Busy Busy Busy

Hi everyone! I've missed you.

I've also missed my humans a lot. They went away for a long time.
I went to stay at Aunt R's house for a bit. I was scared there, because I thought I had been abandoned. But then I realized that Aunt R is just as much fun as my regular humans. And she doesn't hog the couch. And she has lots of nice friends who bring me cookies. I like cookies!

Then I went from Aunt R to Aunt E's house. With the cats again. So much moving around. At least I got to sleep in the kitty bed. Hah! That's one up on them, and they didn't get to eat my food either because I'm too fast.

Snuggling up!

Auntie E's house is also nice because it is dog-accessible. I can get on the table, to finish of the cats' food. I can get the trash to make sure all the food is out of there. And I can get to the shelves to get a snack in case I get hungry. Whoever made the house was very thoughtful to make it accessible to dogs as well as humans.

Of course, Auntie E doesn't think I should be eating a bag of treats, a box of cereal, the trash and the kitty food, especially all in one day. I disagree. So does Zayna, the bigger cat. She took advantage of my food-induced sluggishness to sleep in my bed. That's just not right.

That's one for the cats. I still think I'm winning.
Turns out my humans did come back. They smell all... warm. I wonder what they were doing without me.

Playtime

I told you I would have some video of Ula and me playing. Well, here it is!

She's a feisty little puppy. I have to make sure she knows I'm bigger. As long as I am bigger, anyway.

More playtime to come in the future I hope!

New Doggy Friend

I met a new friend today. She's a 9-week-old puppy named Ula. She likes to play, but she barks very loud. We ran around and around her house and jumped on the furniture.

We're playing!

We also both like being petted. I'm bigger than Ula, but my human says only for a little while.

One of Ula's humans is petting me.

We played a lot and I got tired. Then Ula got tired and went to sleep. She likes to sleep on the floor because it's cold, but I think its too hard. I prefer blankets.

What a little angel!
Now, you might not have been able to see her very well in these pictures. That's because she's so excited she can't stay still for my human to take a picture. Stay tuned for video tomorrow!

Blanket

One game that both my humans like to play is blanket. This is how it goes.

First, the human throws a blanket on me.

It's warm and cozy in here.
Then I start getting out.

I can see now.

This is where they always giggle.

Then a quick shake, and I'm out!

Mmmm.. All that blanketing made me hungry.

I'm glad the humans are so easily entertained.

Gangsta Muon

I bet ya didn't know I was a gangsta, did ya?

It's good to be a gangsta

Well, maybe I'm not really. Perhaps you might call me a sports fan.

Go Phillies!
Hats are fun!

Whoa....

Now I'm a sk8ter dog!

Yummy Bone

I got a new bone from my humans.

Nom nom nom

It's not actually a bone. It's made of rawhide, and I really like to chew on it. A lot.

Human #2 put toys on me

To the exclusion of all else. My humans started teasing me, but I didn't care.

Chewing at bedtime

Sometimes they take the bone away. Its like they think I'm chewing it too much. I actually chewed one of them up, but I have another one.

Dingo

No, this isn't about a real dingo, but a cocker spaniel & shih tzu mix named Dingo.

He's kinda funny looking. Really shaggy.

*I* want to be in Aunt E.'s lap
He came over with Aunt E. We didn't play a whole lot, other than we both wanted to be in Aunt E.'s lap. But we got along ok.

What was that you were doing earlier?

It was nice to see another dog, even though we didn't get to run outside. Ooh, here's a great picture of Dingo!

Flying Dingo!!!

I hope to see more of Aunt E. because her lap is most excellent. If Dingo comes too, that would be fine.

Halloween costumes

So, Halloween is coming up. It's time to start figuring out what to dress up as.

Maybe I should be a scary zombie fortunteller.

In your future, I see... BRAAAAIIIIINNNNS
Or maybe I should be a famous sport figure, with adulations from all.

Why yes, I did make the win.

Actually that last picture is getting toweled off after talking a walk outside when it was raining. But I think I look like a sports star getting toweled off after a big play.

Do you know what you are going to be for Halloween?

I am an artist

There was a big event for dogs recently. My human went with me to it, and Mila and Stan and their humans came too. It was pretty exciting. There were lots of other dogs there to sniff. There were yellow balls on the grass. There were treats in a bucket but I didn't get to eat them. I sniffed a lot. It was wonderful. Some of the other dogs ran down a lane after a ball. My human tried to tell me to do that too, but I thought that was silly. I would rather play with other dogs than run after a silly ball. Toys are for when there are no other dogs to play with.

One thing I did like, was making art. Stan, Mila and I all made art.

There is not any video of me actually making my art because my human was so impressed with my talent.

Here are the results, however. One of the great things about making art, is you get treats.

Opus 1
Treats are great. I really like treats. And I'm good at getting them. Maybe I'll get some treats today.

Princess Muon

Did you know I was a princess? Well I am.

Here I am sitting on my royal cushion with my crown on my head.

What? You say that's not a crown? It's just my collar that my human put on my head?

Well, I'm still a princess. My human says so.

Kitten Cameo

I'd like you to meet Gilly.

She is a kitten and about 12 weeks old. I haven't met her, but I smelled her on my humans' clothes. They went to play with her. I'll forgive them this time.

She is awfully cute. No wonder they like her too.

I want to play with her too! I could chase her everywhere! I think that would be great.

Before Adoption

I was just thinking back to where I was before I came to live with my humans. I had moved a lot. I was outside, then in a big car, then I was at a house with many dogs and many children. A lot of them were in cages a lot of the time. The dogs, not the humans.

That was my foster home. I was so nervous when my foster mother said I was going to go to my forever home. She took a picture to show my new humans.

My foster family let me on the bed.

That night, my new humans came to pick me up. Some of the other dogs had humans come for them too. I didn't know which were mine, so I said hi to all of them. At first I thought this one female human was going to take me, because she got out a collar. I jumped up to get my head closer so it would be easier to put on me. But she said no, and put the collar on a very very big drooling dog.

Just then, my humans came! And they liked me! They also liked this bulldog who was my friend, but my foster family said they couldn't take her too, because she just had babies. I never had babies. I was so happy to be with my humans, and they are happy to be with me too.

Pink toy

When my humans came home today, they brought me another toy. When they brought it home, it was round and pink. It looked a little bit like a poodle.

I played with it a lot, and got it open. It was great!

But then my humans took my toy away, and when they gave it back it was flat. I still play with it, but it is flat now.
Pink Toy next to pink blanket
It is a good toy for killing, over and over. Also good for playing tug--I always win. It seems hard to throw for fetch, it doesn't go far now that it is flat, but I go get it anyway.

Aren't I sneaky? My humans didn't know I could open my toys.

Friend Weekend

This weekend was very very exciting.

First, my human #2 came home! It had been so long! I thought he was never coming home.

Then, my friend Stan's family was gone, so my humans were feeding him and taking him for walks, and I got to come too!
I am getting ready to go for a walk.
Also we got to play in the yard a lot. I liked that. I got to be off my leash and run around. And roll around, and everything. (If you look closely, you can see Stan near the end of the video.)

It was a good weekend. Especially getting to see BOTH of my humans. They are my favorite people.

Toys are for hiding!

I have a toy that I like to hide sometime. Actually, I have two, one for work and one for home.

At home, I decided the closet was a good place for it.

That's my tail sticking out of the closet there.
My human #1 thought this was hilarious.

I don't think this is quite so funny.
What's so funny anyway? She's being strange. And taking lots of pictures, which is overall a good thing because I have more to show you.

Look how well my eyes came out in this one!
My toy is still in the closet, and there it will stay, until I'm good and ready for it to come out.

Zaftig

While I was cleaning myself today, I heard some disturbing news.

Apparently I'm getting chubby. The vet told me not to gain weight, and I weigh 3 pounds more than I did last time I went to the vet. I don't look fat do I?

Sigh, maybe this is because I keep stealing my humans' food when it's left on the counter. I ate 3 english muffins yesterday.

If I could just run around as much as I wanted I would be fine. But they keep telling me to stay home. It's like they think I won't come back.

Well, here I am at home.

Party pictures

I went to a party a while ago. (before the hurry cane)

My human #1 finally located the connector to put pictures onto the internet! So here are some pictures from the party.

That food sure looks yummy
This is the party where I ran around too much and hurt my leg. But as I said, I'm much better now. I went on a LONG walk today. But not long enough or fast enough, because my human is slow and tires easily.
Maybe if I'm extra-cute they'll give me some food.
I hope I get to go to more parties soon, especially if people drop food for me!

Exciting weekend

The hurry cane came and went with nothing interesting. I did get to see my friends though.
On Thursday night there was a party, and both my friends Mila and Stan were there. Mila and I played a lot for a long time. I got kinda tired.

The next day my leg was sore. My human got really worried, but I was just tired from playing. I rested all day.
I am napping because I need to rest my leg.
Then we went over to Stan's house to wait out the hurricane. But as I said, not much happened. It rained.

So, that was the exciting weekend, and now I'm back to work! My leg is all better  and I'm running around and jumping and sitting and just generally being adorable.
