on Candid Camera!

I was taking a nap, minding my own business, and my human was very sneaky and took pictures of me!

Yes, I might have been sleeping under her jacket. So? It was comfy.

My human is being silly. She wants me to ask you if you can tell which end is which.

I got an owie

Yes, I got an owie on my foot. I'm not sure why but it hurt and I was hopping around so I had to go to the vet. The vet says that there was something wrong with the skin in between my toes, but nothing was wrong with my joints or muscles. I could have told you that! Also I learned that I am a "small dog."

My human put ointment on my foot for 10 days! This was horrible, but I let her do it because I'm sure that she has my best interests in mind. I don't understand what these were, but maybe that's part of her secret human healing powers. I'm all better now and running around at the dog park.

The vet also said I was not allowed under any circumstances to lick my foot. I think something about my doggy healing powers not playing nicely with their human healing powers. I think that's silly. Licking my foot is clearly the best way to make it better. But my human put a weird puffy thing on my neck, supposedly so I would not lick my foot.

Little does she know that I can still, barely, reach my foot.

It turned out to not be absolutely horrible. I could still sleep with it on. It was a bit like a pillow. And lots of other humans asked me what was wrong, so I had to tell them all about my poor foot.

Downward dog.
Through much patience (10 days!) and some meditative exercises, I am now healed and back to my adventures.

More dog park!

The dog park is really fun.

Come play with me!

One of the best parts, is that sometimes the other dogs' humans give me treats. I'm so good at my tricks, especially "sit" that they always feel inspired to give me treats.

Nom nom nom nom nom

Speaking of treats, I should go make sure we have a good supply of them.

Hiking

My humans took me hiking a while back. I got to run around without a leash. That was fun. They didn't want me to run as far as I did though, so I had to keep going back to them.

So many fantastic smells.
They didn't get a picture of it, but I was careful when going up hard stuff like this to make sure my humans could make it. They're not as athletic as I am.

This is fun!
We also went to a lake.

Pretty!

I drank out of it, but didn't swim. One of my humans' friends swam though. My humans were not happy with me for drinking this water. I don't know why.

Muon the forest adventure dog.

I hope we can go hiking again.

At the Dog Park

There's a new dog park in town. I go a lot.

Big and open with lots of dogs and their humans

That's me!

I get to play with the other dogs. I mostly prefer the ones around my size. We also like to get petted by each other's humans.

Hey, human, we were in the middle of playing! What are you doing?

It is important to drink lots of water when running around at the park. Sometimes we all hang around the drinking fountain together.

These dogs make me look small, but they're not too rough.
Glub glub glub, drink up.

When it's time to go, I get my humans and they put my leash on. Some of the other dogs just don't know when it's time to quit, but I like to have time at home with my humans too.

We'll be back soon!

Happy snuggle time

Snuggling with my human is great.

It is also not so bad to snuggle with kitties.

All together now!

I like being in a pile.

Fancy leopard turtle doggie cat bed

It's a long name for a bed, but after you look at it, you'll see why.

It seems a decent size for a cat.
Technically, it's' from the cat section of the pet store, so that makes it a cat bed. And it has leopard print, so that makes leopard in the title. But I can sleep in it too:

Cozy as can be!

That makes it a doggie bed.

All the way inside!
And I can be all the way inside, so that make it like a turtle shell. The black spot in front is a little pom-pom, which is why I call it fancy.

So you see, the fancy leopard turtle doggie cat bed.

Spinning Cats

Introducing, the fine and noble sport of cat-spinning. It is a performance-oriented team sport, consisting of the cat, who spins, and the facilitator, who assists in the spinning motion.

There are multiple subsets of rules. The two main versions are known as the "chair" version, and the "floor" version.

Zayna as the cat and a human of her choice as the facilitator are demonstrating these two versions in the video below.

Zayna has all the features of a champion cat for cat-spinning. Two of those enviable qualities are long fur to reduce floor friction for the floor type of cat-spinning and the ability to attract a qualified facilitator.

As not one of the top cat-spinning players myself, I am hardly qualified to judge the performance, but from my humble view, I would give this team an 8. They do very well at keeping the spin, but the motions are somewhat jerky. More fluidity could catapult this team straight to the pinnacle of the cat-spinning world.

Visitors

Aunt E is away for a while, so the kitties that live with her came to stay with me and my humans.

Turns out they're not so bad after all. They get in trouble too! They've been eating a plant and throwing it up. I never do that.

Here are the kitties:

Bestest friends... to each other

The one on the left is Zayna and the one on the right is Samira. They get fed on the table. I am not allowed to eat their food.

They brought some beds with them, but since they prefer to sleep on chairs, I get to use the bed

just the right size!

I like the kitty bed because it is poofy and soft and has nice edges to keep me cuddled in during my naps. I think I'll have my humans get me one of these for my own.

They'll be visiting for a little while, so I hope to have more pictures to show you.

Hunter extraordinaire

As you might recall, I like squirrels. For chasing.

As you also might recall, I am not allowed to chase squirrels, and instead I have squirrel toys to play with inside.

I am very good at catching the toy squirrels, and I am very thorough about killing them and ripping them limb from limb.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Rawwrrrrgh.

I make sure every single piece of squirrel inside is out of its skin. And that none of those squirrel insides have anything inside them either.

Call me a reverse-taxidermist.

What's that? Fluff you say?

And, since I am such a mighty hunter, I will go rampaging about the house with entrails dripping from my mouth.

Let this be a warning to all squirrels, toy or otherwise who might invade my territory!

A day in the life

Sometimes, life doesn't go as you plan.
Sometimes, bad things happen.

I stepped in some poop yesterday. Some dogs just don't teach their humans how to clean up properly. It's not that hard! Have them bring a plastic bag. They have opposable thumbs, they shouldn't have much trouble.

So I was in the house with stinky stinky poo on my foot. My humans were NOT happy. They said that it needed to be cleaned off ASAP.

Cleaned?  I don't like the sound of that.

As you may know, this cleaning thing involves water. And not water for drinking. Water you intentionally put on the outside of your body. Not a good idea.

The humans took me into the evil room and I was not happy. The evil room is where the shower is and I get all wet. I do not like the shower and I do not like the evil room.

Fortunately though, they didn't get me all wet. Just my foot. That's not so bad. And cleaned it and cleaned it and cleaned it so it stopped smelling. It looked just like when I lick my feet. I don't really understand why I'm not supposed to lick my feet when they do the same thing.

I suppose my humans are not too bad. They pick up after me and feed me, as well as putting me in the evil room. And they didn't even give me a shower this time.

Be sure to tell all of your humans to do their job of cleaning! Remember, they have thumbs.

Squirrels and toys

I really like squirrels. They are fluffy and speedy and bouncy. Unfortunately, they often run up trees where I can't get them. I can only get my front paws on a tree. Someday I'll catch a squirrel.

In the meantime, I have some squirrel-like toys.

Caught this one!

It's fun to play with my humans with the squirrel toys. I can catch them and pretend they are real squirrels. And eat them.

Mmm. Fake squirrel guts.

Well, I don't really eat them. But I can pretend to kill them and rip them apart. Then I can play tug with the fake squirrel skin!

I hope you have some toys you like!

P.S. I noticed that many people were looking at information about Japan or rocks and came over here to check out my blog. And a few stayed.

Hi everybody! Yes, I'm a dog. I'm glad some of you are both humanitarians and dog lovers.

Sweater

Human #1 made me a sweater.

While I can make ANYTHING look good, this may not be the best.

She's very silly. I never get cold. I have my own sweater. But she made it, so I wore it to show you.

Here is the front:

I appreciate the thought, but  not the product.

And here is the back:

Aunt E is trying to pet me.

Not only is the sweater silly-looking, I can't get petted very well, because it gets in the way. Aunt E was nice, eventually, and helped me get it off.

Awkward!

I hope my human appreciates how much I love her. I let her put on the sweater, and even take pictures to show you. And I still cuddle her.

I don't know how humans can stand to wear clothing!

Wrestling

More puppy playdate update!

Pika turned into a zombie and started to try to eat my brains.

So I had to fight her off so she wouldn't harm my humans.

I am very fast and strong.

And my ears look funny.
Eventually, I subdued her. We continued wresting, but dit it while lying down.

Don't worry! Pika stopped being a zombie and my humans were safe.

No puppies were harmed in the making of this message.

Tug

My friend Pika was over the other day, and we had lots of fun. One thing we did was play tug.

This is Pika's bear.

Pika is good for playing tug with. She doesn't get tired and bored like my humans.

This is my dolly.
Sometimes I like to hold out a toy to make her remember that we're supposed to be playing tug.

Lots of toys!
Now we switched from the dolly to the round squirrel. This is a great toy. And look at Pika's ears! She's jumping around a bunch to make her ears fly all over.

Never surrender.
Never surrender the toy! (Unless the humans say to, and really mean it.) It might get ripped, but then we have the chance to take all the stuffing out.'

I love human #2

Just a normal day, sitting in my human's lap. He is nice and cuddly.

Notice the lack of zombie eyes.

I like to lick my humans when they're being cuddly.

Got him!

Usually Human #2 is too quick for me to lick him. But occasionally I win! Share the love!

Puppy friends

Do you notice anything unusual about my picture below?

This is also a good profile shot.

Yes! I have a puppy friend over to play today. Her name is Pika. She is part golden retriever, part labrador retriever, and part who knows what. She is a little smaller than me right now, but my human says she's going to get a lot bigger.

Simply angelic.

We have been getting along well. I have been teaching her about playing tug, how to wrestle, how to stop wrestling, and what is mine (everything).

It's nice to have a puppy friend around. Human friends tire so easily.

Stormy weather.

There was thunder and rain. That's scary. I wanted to hide under the bed.

In the old house I slept under the bed a lot.

But there was a problem! There was no space for me.

What's that box doing in my hiding spot?

For a while, my humans let me curl up in the bedroom with them. I'm less scared when they're around.

Closer is better.

But then, when they went to sleep, they said I had to leave! They say I make too much noise at night. I slept right outside the bedroom door all night.

See that door? They're right behind there.
The closer I am to the humans the safer I'll be. Eventually the rain stopped. Luckily, we all survived.

In the dog house

Literally.

Sometimes we get along
When I was visiting family I slept in Molly's bed. Her bed is in a big cage. Because of the joyful holiday spirit, we shared the bed. Once. Mostly Molly just slept on my blanket on the couch.

The pink is my poor, squished blanket.

I like to sleep in other people's beds. It's more interesting to have their smells around me. Also it means I'm the super-princess of everything.
