Family for Holidays

As I said before, my humans and myself traveled a long way to visit family for the holidays. There are some four-legged family members too. There is a cat, named Kitty, and a dog named Molly.

Molly in front of all the presents.
Molly does not like to play with me very much. She prefers ropes to fuzzy toys. We both run around the house together, just not playing tug together or anything like that. This is a pretty great house. There is carpet so it is easy to run, and it is bigger than my normal house.

Kitty is sticking her tongue out.
Kitty is a very cranky cat. She won't play either. I run up to her and she doesn't run away, just sits there not moving. Sometimes she sticks her tongue out like in the picture above, but I am not sure you can see it.

It is fun to be here with family. Everybody pets me. (There are 4 extra humans.) Even if Molly and Kitty just play near me instead of with me, it is fun to have company. I think this was worth the drive.

Traveling

Normally, my preference is to move about on my own four legs. I am quite speedy that way and I have full control. Occasionally there are reasons to travel in different methods.

Hello there. I am going backwards.

For example, there is the occasion of my humans being silly and treating me like I am a baby human. I am not  a human, I am a dog, and not even a baby dog. I am a grown up bitch. Although I can't have babies because I had an operation. I am ok with that. I will never be tied down by puppies.

The other occasion when I need to use non-paw forms of transportation is when I have to go a very long way. We went a very long way recently to spend holidays with family. So we used the car.

I like my humans, but I want to get out!

Usually in the car I go to work. That takes about 15 minutes. This time though, it took hours and hours and hours. It was very boring. I got a bone filled with tasty goo, but  I got as much goo out as I could in 30 minutes. The rest of the trip I tried to sit in my human's lap.

At least it is warm here in the sun.

As you  can see, not so much fun. Also, the lap isn't stable, and sometimes I fall off front or back or to the side. But we eventually got to where we were going, and it is pretty fun here. I'll tell you about it soon!

Silly hats

My humans are silly. You might remember that I was wearing hats a while ago.

Well, here's another one.

I'm a what?
The humans seem very excited about this hat. They had to cut a hole in the side for my face because the hat was too big and fell down around my neck and I couldn't see. I wonder what's so great about this hat.

It makes noise too!

Grooming

I have heard that it is important to always make a good first impression. Good grooming is an important part of that. Grooming is necessary, even if not always pleasant.

Part of my grooming routine is showers. I have to have a shower about once a month. I hate showers. Way too much water. Water is for drinking. My human rubs stuff on me that makes bubbles. Then she puts water all over me again. But then comes a part I like. Towel time! I just think all the cleaning should happen during towel time, and skip the shower.

Another part of grooming is getting brushed. That is better than showering. First I have to have my collars taken off.

I feel so naked!

Then I get brushed with that little black and blue brush. It takes a long time and afterward there's a pile of fur. I have to work extra hard to make it grow back!

Even though I like the attention while being brushed, it is tedious, and by the time it's done I'm always happy to get dressed again.

I hope everyone out there is well groomed!

Naps

Today, we are going to talk about naps. Naps are an extremely important part of the day. They let you pass the time while your humans are not paying attention to you. It's an excellent way to pass time, because napping never gets you in trouble!

When napping, it is important to have a comfortable spot. At my human #1's work, I have a little bed under her desk. It lets me be close to her, and its soft, and not too big so I can curl up in it. At home, I like the couch. There are usually soft blankets and pillows on the couch, to augment the cushions.

Comfortable AND fashionable.

Actually, I like sleeping on the bed the most, but I'm not allowed anymore. My humans found little warm hollows in the blankets, and sometimes wet spots where I was licking my paw. Now they keep the door closed all the time.

I have a friend who likes to sleep on hard floors. She says it's the only place that's cool enough to get a good rest. While she is entitled to her opinions, I prefer soft, warm things.

Happy napping!

Look at Me!

Sometimes my humans like to sit on the couch. They make there be noises and flashy lights. I don't understand what's going on. They just sit there. They're not asleep. Just sitting.

So sometimes I have to let them know that they have to pay attention to me.

A most excellent nose.

It's difficult to get between the humans and the flashy lights. But getting petted is very important. Also licking peoples faces. My humans aren't a big fan of that, but I do it anyway because I love them!

More fun at Aunt E's house

As you know, I spent some time at Aunt E's house recently, and she has two cats. This is one of the cats, Samira.

Evil. But snuggly evil.
Samira is sitting on the bed, all snuggled up in blankets. I like to snuggle up  in blankets too. But Aunt E doesn't let me on the bed.

Making do.

(My regular humans don't let me on the bed either.)

This unfairness must be stopped! I will get rid of that cat! I have tricked her into a box, so I can mail her far far away.

How much does it cost to ship a cat to Abu Dhabi?
Rats! I got caught. Apparently I'm not allowed to mail cats either. No beds, no mailing cats. What is this world coming to?

Oh. Samira just came over and told me something. She says that although she's allowed on the bed, she doesn't get to go outside, except a few times. And when she goes in the car she has to be in a bag. Life is terribly unfair for all of us 4-legged peoples. At least Samira is nice and snuggly on the couch too.

Friends. For now.
I guess Samira isn't terribly evil after all. She sleeps with me. Not like her sister, who punches me in the face. Now that's an evil cat!
